Fiber Construction Progress to Amelia Earhart Airport

Construction continued during the month of September to expand our fiber network to the Atchison Amelia Earhart Airport.

In August, the construction crew completed the bore work and placed the vaults along the path. (Read that article here)

The next part of the process is to blow fiber into the buried conduit. The machine pushes the fiber in and uses air to assist the cable through the conduit.

After all the fiber was in the conduit, our technicians began splicing cable. The splicing process joins two fiber optic cables together.

The splicing process allows the fiber optic services to go from point A (ending point of last fiber connection) to point B (ending point of fiber network).

In this fiber expansion process we spliced cable from our starting point, Shannon Industrial Park, to our ending point, the Amelia Earhart Airport.
